Rick Jacobs is the principal Learning Strategist and consultant of Law Enforcement Training and Education Consultants. He has almost 30 years of experience working in and with law enforcement in the US and abroad, 10 years of which as a deputy sheriff, FTO, general and firearm’s instructor, and other roles in Virginia.
Rick is a seasoned law enforcement instructor in several fields, has been adjunct faculty at several higher education institutions, and has applied his training and training development experience to other industries such as technology, banking, and the Department of Defense. He has been in the Learning and Development industry for thirty years as an instructor, adjunct faculty, instructional systems designer, and training manager.
As an adjunct faculty member at several universities and community colleges, he has developed and delivered curriculum for philosophy, graphic design, and criminal justice.
He has a BS in Philosophy from the University of Utah and an MS in Criminal Justice from Virginia Commonwealth University, with a post-baccalaureate certificate in Public Safety.
He is an IADLEST Nationally Certified Instructor, a training evaluator for IADLEST’s National Certification Program, and is on the academy accreditation board. His background in training and education is also used in the corporate world through Jacobs, et al, LLC, as a business and learning strategy consultant, helping organizations establish and build learning and development capabilities.
He currently resides in TX and spends his free time with family, riding his 2005 Softail Springer Classic, and looking for new adventures in diverse places.
