Very few instructor certification courses teach people what they actually need to be good instructors. Not great, but a good foundation to become great.
We discuss “Leading up: making quiet change,” and two more things that should be addressed within the same topic: – is all free training crap? – training to the lowest common denominator.
We discuss why de-escalation training is not implemented well in agencies and academies, why most courses are poorly designed, where it belongs in basic training, and how it should be implemented to be more effective.
