Very few instructor certification courses teach people what they actually need to be good instructors. Not great, but a good foundation to become great. Even more so, even fewer actually address what an instructor should be: a proving ground for leadership. I have never known a great instructor to be a bad leader, but I have known plenty of bad leaders who were also bad instructors. Most of what we see is mediocre instructors becoming mediocre managers who eventually become mediocre “leaders” by title.
